Introducing the Small But Mighty Biz Stories podcast
I’ve listened to many podcasts off and on over the last 15 years or so. It’s a medium I enjoy and find really useful for learning. I’ve wanted to start a podcast in the past, but I didn’t have an angle I wanted to explore—until now.
I’m really excited to introduce Small But Mighty Biz Stories today. I’m still figuring out how often I’ll produce shows, so it may be a little irregular in the beginning.
It’s truly an honour to get to speak with business owners about their work, but I don’t know all the small businesses out there! So, I’d love to hear about the businesses you love. Click the button to send me your recommendations:

Hello there! I’m Karen Wilson, and I want to welcome you to the Small but Mighty Biz Stories podcast. Well, the quick intro episode where I tell you what this is all about.
A few weeks after the start of the coronavirus quarantine, I wrote an article about the struggles many of my fellow Canadian small business owners were experiencing and anticipating due to business closures. The last line of that article actually inspired this podcast:
“We may be small, but we are mighty. And together, we’re too big to fail.”
As a marketing consultant, one of my favourite parts of the work I do is hearing my clients share their business story.
In my conversations with them, I’m often asking them about why they started their business, what they love about the work they do, and how their work impacts their customers.
It’s energizing and enlightening to get to know the purpose that motivates them to get up every day and serve their clients and customers. So, I decided to start this podcast to share small business stories and give them a little boost during this time.
I hope you’ll be inspired when you hear how small biz owners bring their ideas and passions to life, and – because I’m a marketer – we’ll talk about the adventures of promoting and growing a small business, especially when marketing isn’t your genius work. Because many business owners have proven you don’t need to be an expert marketer to grow a thriving business.
From the underlying purpose to lessons learned, the stories of small business will give you a glimpse of an important part of our economy that doesn’t get enough credit or attention.
Before I go, do you have a favourite business with a great story? Visit smallbutmightypod.com and let me know about them. I look forward to having you join me as I get to learn more about small businesses all over Canada.
